RE: Planned Parenthood

Over the years, sexual education has been a controversial issue all over the nation. Some have debated for the need of sexual education in schools while others have strongly debated against it. Regardless of this, teens have proven that sexual education is a must. We have seen an increase of pregnancy in teenagers, and Texas is among the highest in rates of pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. This simple statement proves that Texas and states among the United States must do its part in educating pre-teens and teens about sex and all the things involved in the subject such as: pregnancies, abstinence, sexually transmitted disease, and birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Unfortunately, as you can see around you, this nation is not doing much in preventing these issues among teens in our society.
Planned Parenthood is a health care provider whose main goals are to provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services. They also advocate public policies which guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services. Another goal of theirs is to provide educational programs which enhance understanding of individual and societal implications of human sexuality. They also try to promote research and the advancement of technology in reproductive health care and encourage understanding of their inherent bioethical, behavioral, and social implications.
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and advocate and works with partner organizations around the world to improve sexual health and well being of individuals and families everywhere. They operate nearly 800 health centers throughout the United States. It provides sexual education and information to more than five million people worldwide each year. It is visited by three million people annually in the nation.
Planned Parenthood works for prevention of many things and has succeeded. Eighty-three percent of its clients receive services to prevent unwanted pregnancies and it has prevented more than 612,000 unwanted pregnancies annually. They also provide many services like provide contraceptives to prevent unintended pregnancies, reduce STDs by testing and providing treatment, and also screen for cervical and other cancers. They also talk with clients and encourage them to feel trust and be able to ask questions freely.
Planned Parenthood has done its role in offering to educate pre-teens and teens (and adults) about sex, abstinence, pregnancies, STDs, and birth control. It is one of the few organizations that offer these kinds of services, but unfortunately there is not an El Paso Planned Parenthood health center. They do all they can by offering services, it is up to one to actually take the opportunity and speak to a representative of this issue and seek answers to numerous questions.
Planned Parenthood has a Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube account in which they provide information to their public. They have almost 20,000 “likes” on Facebook: Planned Parenthood’s Facebook page is constantly updated and receives plenty feedback from their followers. They answer any questions their followers have; it does not matter if it is the simplest or most embarrassing question. They have over 200 informative videos on YouTube, 2,231 subscribers and over 4 million views. Their website plannedparenthood.org also provides a lot of information about everything related to sex; their information is detailed, specific, organized and up to date.
Planned Parenthood can be contacted by phone by calling 1-800-230-PLAN (1-800-230-7526) or through one of its two national offices listed on their website. Their website, www.plannedparenthood.org, also has useful information about the program and what they are doing to help with this issue. Planned Parenthood currently has more than four million activists, supporters and donors nationwide; you could help out by donating some money on their website.
